We have done a fair amount of lead generation and email marketing for mini barn (storage shed) companies, and I thought I'd write a quick blog post showing you what we are doing and what kind of results you may expect.
Without leads your mini barn business won't survive very long!
Leads are the qualified prospects that are most likely to become your customers and ambassadors for your brand if you use them right.
I'm sure you have goals for your company, and it most likely includes lead generation, but have you considered email marketing?
Too many companies overlook this high ROI strategy that can majorly increase company profits when done right.
I'm going to share this from your customer's perspective, so first things first.
Let's dig in!
Lead Generation for Mini Barn Companies
Here is the #1 rule for being successful with any website.
You can have the best (or worst) website in your industry, BUT IF NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT, you will not generate any business off of it.
You have to get eyeballs on your website!
You wouldn't even consider putting a mini barn lot on a small gravel road 50 miles from the nearest town, hang out a small sign and expect people to show up at your door to order your sheds. You want your lots somewhere where there's lots of traffic and as many people as possible are going to know about your mini barns.
Use the same mentality online. Getting eyeballs on your website is the first step to successful lead generation for mini barn companies.
This is also known as website "traffic".
There are many different ways of doing that, but just to name a few would be SEO, Google Adwords, Facebook Ads and YouTube ads.
Choose whichever ones works best for you! Some are more long term, others more short term and the price varies as well.
If you skip this most important step, the rest of what I'm about to share will do you no good.
Your Mini Barn Website
Once you have decided how you will get your traffic, it's time to make sure we turn as many of those eyeballs into leads and then into happy customers.
Ask yourself this, "What is the most important thing your potential customer is looking for the first time they land on your website?"
So what is the simple solution?
Give them your catalog/price list!
If you have a well built catalog/price list all of those things should be on there!
BUT...
In order for someone to get it, make them sign up for it. You only want serious leads anyway don't you?
Here is how we set it up for Al's Log Cabins and Storage Sheds on his home page on his website.
You make them fill out their name, email, phone number and zip code in order to get access to your catalog/price list.
Now here is the kicker: You don't just get that info sent to you as an email! You are missing out on a most important step if you do that.
You will want to connect that on the back end of your website to your email marketing system.
Put these forms on multiple places on your website. The most important being in the top section of your home page, near the bottom of the page and if you have product pages, I'd put them there as well.
If you don't want that many forms on your website, use buttons and a lightbox pop-up or a sign up page.
Example of a button with a lightbox popup.
Example of a Form on a Mini Barn Website
Simply fill out the form below and you will see an example of what happens on a Mini Barn website.
Let's talk about what happens when your potential customer fills out that form. After they submit their info the website will 2 things. It will redirect to a simple thank you page and also send the info to the email marketing system.
Chatbots
People love to interact. And when they can't do it with a person, most people love to interact with a website when given a chance.
That's why we recommend using a Chatbot or even a LiveChat feature on your website if you have the manpower to respond in a timely manner.
If you want to automate it, use the Chatbot and connect it to your Aweber account as well and you'll get about twice as many leads.

Email Marketing for Mini Barn Companies
For the email marketing system, we recommend using a system called Aweber. This is the most simple straightforward lead and email marketing system to get started.
If you already have a CRM that incorporates email marketing you can most likely use that, but if you are just starting out I'd recommend Aweber. (Costs under $200 for the first year- free trial available)
Once your new lead has gone to their email and clicked on the confirmation email that Aweber sent to them, it will automatically take them to the catalog/price list download page.
And it will officially subscribe them to your email list. (Only once they clicked confirm)
With Al's Log Cabins and Storage Sheds we took it a step farther since he has his price lists all separated.
We attached each price list to separate buttons and when his new lead clicks on it, it Aweber will automatically tag that lead with the name of the price list they clicked on.
Now he can go in there at any time and see how many people are interested in storage building, hunting blinds, or hunting cabins.
Automate Your Follow Up!
Or at least part of it.
Write a few more emails that automatically get sent out by Aweber at the appointed times.
We recommend sending the 2nd one the very next morning.
Keeping it simple and asking if they found what they were looking for and invite them to hop on a quick phone call seems to work very well.
Another email we use a lot is a simple email with a review a happy client left for you. Simply share with your new lead what your happy customers have to say about you.
Conclusion
If you track everything properly, you can see exactly how much each lead costs you, how much it costs you to get each customer etc.
Once you have that data, your goal is to tweak and lower that lead cost as much as possible.
Remember though, results will vary.
Competition, location, advertising methods, SEO rankings, and length of time will all be factors in your results. Generally speaking the longer you do it, the better your results.
The key is to get started! Contact us if you want our help getting your system setup.
